The purpose of the festival is to raise money for existing charities, raise awareness of the plight of the less fortunate, build community spirit and have a damn fine time doing so!

Rocksfarm Doc Rock was formed in 2009 by the Svenson family and friends, and held on their farm between Denmark and Walpole on the South Coast of Western Australia.

Feeling powerless to do much about the world’s inequalities we realised that while we may not be able to change the world today, through education and collective thinking via public awareness we can make a difference. Good entertainment for both young and old.

The area would be considered remote to some people, and for this reason it brings arts, culture, community spirit and any type of entertainmentthat is not available in the vicinity.

In 2010 all proceeds will be donated to Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), Oxfam, and Threads of Peru. The reasoning behind this is that these organizations are well known, maintain a good transparency and seem to limit excessive administration.

The event was made possible by the generous nature of the local communities, many people donating their time and resources.

Rocksfarm 2010 still donates to MSF (Doctors Without Boarders) and Oxfam. This year we will also donate to Threads of Peru (who work with indigenous Andean weavers in Peru)

Rocksfarm 2010 coincides with the “World Peoples Conference On Climate Change And the Rights of Mother Earth” Hosted by the government of Evo Morales in Bolivia. The Conference was called in response to the recent failed climate talks in Copenhagen.

Bolivia produces less than 0.1 per cent of the worlds CO2 emissions but given their geographical location (mostly the high Andes) they are experiencing sharp increases in flooding, drought, forest fires and plagues of pests causing crop failures.

Australians are amongst the biggest producers of CO2 per capita in the world and demographically mostly in the top two percent of the world In terms of education and income. This gives us the most room to change our ways and much power for our voices to be heard.
